Wyoming (WY) Launches First State-Backed Stablecoin on Seven Blockchains

Back in 2022 I wrote about how Wyoming anticipated releasing the USA's first state stablecoin, that came about from Legislation being drafted called Wyoming Stable Token Act (SF0106), and must be voted upon and ratified.  Then in February of this year I provided an update on the status of the WY Stablecoin. Here were are in August of 2025 and I can proudly state WY has The first USA State Stablecoin.  Most notably, this stablecoin chose Avalanche (AVAX) as its deployment infrastructure instead of Ethereum (ETH).

What do we know about WY stablecoin?

Originally, the name floated was WYST and it was released under FRNT (the Frontier Stablecoin Token (FRNT). Which is fully collateralized by cash and US Treasuries. It started testing in the June/July timeframe and was released earlier this week. It has been enabled for Government payments and is globally available on Visa card payment network. As well as Apple Pay as well as Google Pay networks.

Is it safe?

Short answer, yes.  The WY stablecoin law requires that it be overcollateralized at 102% in reserves and US treasuries. The FRNT token can be deployed on Arbitrium, AVAX, Base, Ethereum, Optimism, Polygon and Solana! Better reserves than most major banks! 

Summary 

I got the sense this is a first class offering from the Frontier State! I look for other states to lean on Wyoming to learn and rapidly release their own stablecoins. Seven top blockchain support as well as Visa network support, yeah its top tier.  Additionally, the USA's advancements of regulatory framework should help other states to advance their stablecoin strategies rapidly.
