Ticketmaster Live Event NFTs
Who is Ticketmaster? They are also known as Ticketmaster Entertainment, Inc. and was by acquired Live Nation Entertainment way back in 2010. Their organization is based Beverly Hills, California. Ticketmaster was founded back 1976, and have two ticket fulfillment centers one in Texas and one in West Virginia. Ticketmaster sells tickets for Concerts, Events as well as Artists globally.
Regardless of what you think of Ticketmaster and their past practices (think brokers and scalper allegations), I found it interesting that they are opening up to the idea of NFTs and bringing more uses to NFTs.
NFTs have long been thought of a great idea for events and special occasions (old news) can this new Ticketmaster and Dapper Labs really unlock more NFT utility?
What is Ticketmaster planning? They have partnered with Dapper Labs, who are creators and operators of the Flow blockchain, to spur growth in live event NFTs. Not sure of their aftermarket value (think resale value).
What has Ticketmaster done with NFTs already?
- Dipped their toe in the space with Polygon (MATIC) with an NFT last NFL season (2021-2022 season)
- Did a one-time digital asset airdrop for Super Bowl ticket holders (2021-2022 season)
Who is Dapper Labs? They are top shelf partners in the Entertainment and sporting world. Recall their NFT Marketplace 'Top Shot' already has a valuation of several billion dollars. Do you own any of these assets?
It is evident that Dapper Labs brings lots of creativity and a successful marketplace to Ticketmaster. What is Ticketmaster bringing to the table other than established routes to market? How valuable will these be for new products like NFTs?
Summary - NFT expansion for Dapper Lab and Ticketmaster makes sense on several levels perhaps they can unlock great utility for NFTs that others will adopt? What else will this cause the innovators at Dapper to unleash and bring to markets? Perhaps Flow blockchain goes mainstream from all the new attention? Interesting stuff still going on in the crypto sphere.
