Mile Markers on the Crypto Highway
It's been a long time since I have written one of these mile marker pieces, I am almost embarrassed to bring it up now.
When I started down the Crypto path during the Global lockdown event, I jumped in big into of course, Crypto faucets. Even though I read all the warnings they are not worth your time nor effort. I was convinced I could make them work by being consistent. Each hour (if permitted), all was well until early in '21 when my first Crypto faucet put out a notice to withdraw your crypto dust to a wallet as they were shutting down. I did as instructed, then within a few months that 'dust wallet' site went offline never to return. Lesson #2 I ignored.
I kept on plowing in my 2-5 minutes hourly racking up more Crypto dust, then late last year one of my favorite sites went offline w/ a banner stating they would be back. Oh, I had such high expectations they would as this was a Chainlink Faucet and I have 'earned' 2.95 LINK and the site required 3.3 LINK to withdraw. Well, here we are nearly 365-days later and their site is still offline. Lesson #3.
About that same time a BTC faucet started blocking me since I am in the USA. Seems our SEC chairman scared the pants off them and I was not able to access my BTC dust. More crypto dust 'earned' but no longer accessible. Lesson #4
In early January of this year another big name faucet site went offline and quickly after their after their DNS resolution stopped working so, I knew they were not coming back! Lesson #5
So, here we are 4.5 years into Crypto faucet time suck I am 97% complete to an entire LTC token. Yes, almost an entire LTC over 4.5 years and its value is currently worth only $69, earning me only $15/year...IF I actually get to move it to a wallet. Who wants to wager that site will go offline before year end?
Call me crazy, I can't break the crypto faucet cycle. Is there a 12-step program I can join to overcome this insane addiction?
So I admit they are not worth my time, why has it taken so long to recognize this? So many lessons ignored and crypto dust lost to the sands of time. I need to be more productive with my Crypto.
Thanks for stopping by and cheers to a more productive Q4 in Crypto!
