Litewallet is being deprecated
Yesterday, I logged into Litewallet and there was an odd yellow banner across the top. It stated Litewallet was being deprecated and being replaced by Nexus Wallet. I don't have anything more than LTC dust in there but I don't want to lose that. Naturally, it concerned me.
Initially, I thought this was a hack directly on the Litewallet from the App store, perhaps trying to steal as much LTC prior to being caught. So, off I went to investigate and quickly found several sites talking about how Litewallet was being deprecated and they have an easy path to move everyone to Nexus Wallet.
Nexus provides an steps and a fancy import wizard to simplify the migration to the Nexus wallet.
GOTCHA - Yesterday I attempted to use the Import Litewallet three (3) separate times and each time I received a different error. I assumed it was due to everyone trying to import at the same time. As of today I have not attempted again. If I continue to get errors I may not migrate to Nexus wallet.
The Import tool asks you for your 12 LTC pass phrases and then does some magic in the background. Since my import failed three times I am not sure if any fee's are associated with the import. Nexus does offer more security as they have 24 pass phrases so more possibilities increasing the security level of the wallet.
Summary
In Crypto, its always better to trust but validate. I found several sites confirming Litewallet was going to an end and that Nexus was taking the reigns. Its great that Nexus provided instructions and an import tool. However, they have some bugs to work out otherwise they might loose more than just me as a wallet user.
