How to make serious cash in AI - Google AI Vulnerability Reward Program (VRP)
Google is asking for your help.
You read that correctly, Google! They are serious about locating AI vulnerabilities and paying to find them and pay you for finding them. They recently launched a new bug bounty program called AI Vulnerability Reward Program (VRP).
Google Products in scope of the AI VRP Program
Their bug bounty program include such offerings as: Google Search, Gemini Apps and Google Workspace applications like Gmail, Drive, Sheets and Calendar. These are classed as Google’s flagship products and offer the highest rewards.
What Qualifies for the bug bounty program?
Google defines AI-related issues as those issues where interaction with a large language model (LLM) or other generative AI (GenAI) system, such as a natural language interaction, is an integral part of the vulnerability or abuse issue. Google also outlined a number of qualifying vulnerabilities including, but not limited to, rogue actions, sensitive data exfiltration, phishing enablement and model theft.
What is outside the scope of the Google VRP program?
Google has defined the following as outside of the scope of the VRP program. Alignment issues, jailbreaks and prompt injections, remain issues for AI products, these faults will be out of scope of the AI VRP.
How does this VRP program pay out?
Google created a single reward table for AI abuse and security issues. Google's top base reward for the VRP is $20,000 for a high-tier AI product flaw. Report multipliers are considered, which are the same as those used in its other VRPs, the program could pay up to $30,000 for a single issue. Assume that Google will rank the bug and pay according to their discretion. I would love to hear some yell. "SHOW ME THE MONEY" to Google!
Summary
This new program is an evolution of Google's Abuse VRP program, which can pay out handsomely IF you have the skills to find and validate them. I believe in the importance of the bug write up too. This VRP is essential to bring the issue to Google's attention to get you paid. You gonna try and score some cash or stacks of cash?
