Everyone thinks that his/her life is altered because of one special event.
An incredible career.
A great opportunity.
A fortunate coincidence.
At least, I did believe in that.
However, reviewing the greatest changes in my life, I understand that they were not caused by one extraordinary day.
These changes were caused by small decisions that I even did not pay attention to.
Getting up earlier.
Reading a couple of pages instead of browsing my smartphone.
Saving money instead of spending them uselessly.
None of them seemed to be important at once.
On the contrary, all of them were rather common actions.
However, after several months, the result became clear.
And I realized something important.
Our future is not created by one major decision.
Future is made by hundreds of little decisions.
The issue is that little decisions bring no visible result immediately.
One missed training will not spoil your health.
One read book will not turn you into an expert.
Little savings will not turn you into a millionaire overnight.
Since there is no result, it is rather natural to assume that such decisions are useless.
Unfortunately, this is not true.
Every little decision is like laying one brick.
One brick does not look spectacular.
However, after dozens of bricks, you will have a whole building.
Nowadays, I no longer expect a special chance to change my life drastically.
On the contrary, I try to make one decent decision each day.
Tomorrow I will make another one.
Sometimes I am successful.
Sometimes I fail.
And that is absolutely fine.
Progress is not about perfection.
It is about making the right decisions regularly enough to ensure that you have more good ones than bad.
Success is often quiet.
Without any fireworks.
Without any ovation.
It just comes through repetitions of simple habits.
This may be the reason why people often overlook success.
They are looking for dramatic changes while their life is actually changing gradually thanks to daily little decisions.
And it is a rather comforting thing.
After all, one small decision is enough to start a new chapter of your life.
