Several weeks ago, before going to sleep, I felt quite disappointed.
It seemed as though I wasn't able to cope with all the things I had to do. I didn't learn something new and didn't accomplish anything meaningful in my mind.
I even thought, "Today was just a waste of time."
But on the next morning, my attitude changed.
Not every day should be productive.
Some of them are destined to give us strength to go through life.
I believe we put way too much pressure on ourselves to make each and every one of the days perfect for us. Every day should bring something new, something successful.
But life isn't like that.
Sometimes you feel like doing everything. And some other times you feel quite unmotivated.
Some days things go according to plan, but some days even simplest tasks become an ordeal.
Previously, I used to think those unproductive days were my failures.
But now I see them as part of the process.
As it's impossible to expect sunny weather every day, so it's impossible to expect the best mood and energy from ourselves all the time.
Now I give myself a permission to take slow days. Instead of feeling guilty for wasting time, I remind myself that resting isn't equivalent to giving up.
There's a huge difference.
One gives you strength to move forward. The other leads you to failure.
Moreover, I've realized that some of my best ideas appear not when I'm actively working, but while taking a walk, listening to the music, or sitting quietly without using my phone.
Perhaps, our minds require such moments more often than we could ever imagine.
Thus, if today is slow don't feel too guilty.
A slow day won't erase all the progress you've accomplished before.
Tomorrow is another opportunity.
And sometimes we simply need enough energy to start over again.
If to look back at the past, I wouldn't be able to remember every productive day.
But I would definitely recall all the difficult days that taught me patience, kindness to myself, and perseverance.
So maybe those days weren't wasted after all. Maybe they were preparing me for everything I needed afterwards. 🌿
