There is one thing that I have realized recently.
When everybody is interested in something, I become much more cautious.
Whether it is investment, a new trend or even a business idea when people say "it is a sure win" I become much more cautious.
However, it is something new for me.
A couple of years ago, I was convinced that the best opportunities are exactly those things that are being discussed now.
If something becomes trending I feel like I should jump in as fast as possible.
Fortunately or unfortunately, most of the time it did not help me.
It only made me rush without thinking properly.
With time, I became convinced that the best opportunities never come with loud headlines.
They are usually very quiet.
They are skills which people do not want to develop because of their time-consuming nature.
They are books which will never be bestsellers.
They are habits which appear to be extremely boring.
The funny thing is that those "boring" things make the biggest difference.
I feel like nowadays we are becoming too obsessed with excitement that we forget how powerful consistency can be.
Everything valuable does not look impressive from day one.
Sometimes an opportunity needs many months or even years before being recognized.
That is why now I stopped asking "What is everybody else doing?"
Now, instead, I am asking myself "Does it make sense to me?"
This small change of approach helped me to avoid many bad decisions which I would otherwise definitely make.
Of course, I still continue learning and I sometimes make mistakes.
However, now I do not trust those opportunities which look extremely promising from day one.
Sometimes the best way is not to impress other people but to keep being consistent.
It may not earn you any likes on social media.
It may not be impressive at all at this moment.
Still, it will allow you to improve yourself, learn something new and make steps towards your goals.
Thinking back, those best decisions that I ever made did not have anything exciting in them.
Those were simply decisions which I stuck with and developed despite everything and despite other people.
Maybe this is how true progress works.
Quiet, slow and sometimes invisible until one day it is not. 🌱
