I had always been under pressure.
I felt like I was lagging behind my contemporaries in everything.
I always wanted to run and do everything much quicker than my peers.
It seemed to me that time was limited.
However, one day, I got one clear realization.
A tree doesn't grow overnight.
The sun won't rise sooner if we wait impatiently.
The best stories require time as well.
It made me think...
Why are we rushing with our lives?
Nowadays, everything moves really fast. We want success, instant achievements, and happiness. When the process takes too long, we think that we are making mistakes.
I used to feel that way too.
But reflecting on my life, I realized that my most transformational moments weren't the fastest ones.
Those were the slowest days.
The days when nobody noticed my efforts.
The days when I kept moving forward though nothing was changing.
That taught me patience, discipline, and self confidence.
I am still dreaming about success and achievements.
But I don't think anymore that I have to achieve everything instantly.
It turns out that sometimes, while trying to chase one goal, we miss something beautiful in the current moment.
Now I appreciate the smaller details.
Such as:
- calm mornings,
- interesting conversations,
- acquiring knowledge,
- accomplishing the things I used to think impossible to accomplish.
Of course, these accomplishments won't make others impressed. But that is not what matters.
Because I see that there is not only a destination point.
There is a journey that makes me learn and develop myself.
Maybe life is not a race at all.
Maybe life is a path asking us to grow up on our own terms.
And maybe those people who are moving slowly now will be the most successful in five or ten years from now.
So, whenever you feel like you are lagging behind others, remember...
Your story doesn't have to fit into their timelines. Your life is your personal journey and timeline. And that's why it is so beautiful.
