Does Bitcoin Need New Investors to Survive?

By ProofOfThought | ProofOfThought | 5 hours ago

Recently, there was one question that had been bothering me.

Does Bitcoin require new investors to keep itself alive?

Initially, the answer seemed clear.

Yes, everyone would agree.

Why? Because without any newcomers purchasing the cryptocurrency, there will be no demand.

However, the more I considered this issue, the clearer it became to me that survival is different from price.

In case nobody purchases BTC tomorrow, the price will definitely be affected.

This is an obvious fact.

Still, will the functioning of the Bitcoin network cease?

No, it will not.

The blocks will still be mined.

The transactions will be confirmed.

The users who believe in the cryptocurrency will be able to use it.

Therefore, I've realized something very important.

Unlike some companies which need to meet their quarterly growth targets or a CEO who tries to attract new customers, Bitcoin is just a cryptocurrency which is doing what it was designed for regardless of the number of people using it.

Surely, new investors are needed for Bitcoin.

They will bring liquidity, more ideas, and faster adoption rate.

Otherwise, the ecosystem will not develop that fast.

Nevertheless, I believe it is not the survival.

Sometimes, people consider a falling price to be a sign of failure.

The history knows many examples of how Bitcoin managed to survive numerous crashes, accusations, criticism, and endless statements about the end of its existence.

Maybe, it is due to the fact that the true strength of Bitcoin is not in the number of its users now.

It is in the fact that nobody can turn it off.

In my opinion, the question regarding the necessity of new investors for Bitcoin should be changed.

It is better to ask whether Bitcoin will be able to prove its value again and again in the future.

In case it will manage, new investors will come eventually.

Not because they have been convinced by the hype but because they will see a reason to trust this currency.
