Hotel De Mentia is a pretty unique project in the NFT blockchain game scene. Their creator describe the project as a "unique, immersive experience, a mixture of art and tech that brings life to an horror themed NFT".
Hotel De Mentia has a very intriguing concept. It's a P2E game base on NFTs which takes place in a hotel, styled with a somewhat dark and horror mood. The graphic of the location vaguely remembers me the feeling of the first horror games on Playstation, like Resident Evil or Silent Hill.
The environment well sets the mood for the aim of the game, that is centered on the exploration of the dark and twisted corners of the human mind.
The hotel is meant as a last resort where guests can find answers to their mental and existential traumas. The experience sets an intense introspective bias, offering a psichological inner voyage into our subconscious. This, united with the distinguished graphical environment sets an unique feeling for the whole project.
You can say we are not speaking about a classic P2E game since the first mint: the style of the NFT characters is original and somewhat dark, not to say twisted. The first impact may seem a little bit cold, but then the artwork reveals precious details and a distinctive character design.
NFTs are not only limited to playable characters, but also include a vast selection of in game itmes. Items will be both airdropped to holders of the NFTs and tradable on market place. Graphics of the items are also polished and detailed, and well suit the mood of the game.
NFTs can also been staked. Staking is managed by an app on Diamond Vault and offers juicy rewards in Solana, which is really cool. I hope that it will also remain sustainable for the team if SOL exit from bear market and skyrockets, but if they offered such an option, I hope thay made all the necessary evaluations.
The gameplay hasn't been fully revealed at the time of writing this article, but it will involve exploration in a closed mansion (the hotel). I don't know why but watching the images preview I can't but thinking about Resident Evil, even if it's not really the same and most of all the in game characters of Hotel De Mentia seem to be structured on a low poly solution.
To enrich in an unique way the psichological experience, the game will host chat room with human psichologist with whom players could talk about their life and emotions. This is a pretty unique feature.
Don't let yourself been disoriented by the graphic style of the artwork, which is maybe too intellectual and a little cold in its first impact. That said, I think that the character design suits well with the overall concept of the project, and shows in its intellectual tracts a fine psichological insight.
The project has been able to build an interesting community around itself. Discord is active, and often offers collaborations and whitelists from other NFT projects. Team is communicative and keeps the community always updated with developments and news.
The only little defect is that messages on the Discord are often written in Thai, which make some conversations impossible to join by western users.
Overall, I find this project interesting: at the time of writing I own an NFT, delisted and staked. I'm following the development actively and I'm waiting for the start of the actual game.
I'ma fan of this kind of dark and introspective concepts, and I liked this one most of all for its aesthetic and psichological introspection.
