SEC Change of Guard and Altcoin Spot ETF Proposals: Grayscale and Coinshares Request Solana, XRP, and Litecoin Spot ETFs

New Proposals: Altcoin ETFs in 2025?
After the SEC change of guard, other requests for approval of spot ETFs on Altcoins are coming.
Among the main exponents we find Coinshares, which has submitted the request for two spot ETFs, the first relating to XRP and the second, relating to Litecoin.
Coinshares, however, is not the only one to submit requests for new financial products dedicated to Altcoins. Grayscale also joins the list, which presents two 19b-4 filings.
The first request is for a spot ETF on Solana while the second also relates to Litecoin. Grayscale's request, however, is related to a conversion of the Trusts already available to qualified investors, through the same step that saw the transition from Trust to ETF of the products on Bitcoin and Ethereum.
The first week without Gary Gensler
The recent departure of Gary Gensler from the SEC has paved the way for a new approach to crypto regulation.
Among the first signs of this change of pace is the establishment of a dedicated task force, led by Hester Peirce, better known as “crypto mom.” This new team will focus on defining clear rules and accessible regulatory paths for new financial products related to cryptocurrencies.
With the SEC ready to revise its approach, optimism is growing that it could approve Altcoin ETFs, which would represent a significant step forward in expanding the market for retail and institutional investors.
