Binance's new “fragrance”
Driven by the female members of its marketing team, Binance has decided to launch a new branded perfume. It will be called "CRYPTO", and aims to bring the female public closer to the world of cryptocurrencies, historically a minority in the sector.
On the occasion of International Women's Day (8 March), the initiative is inserted in a broader context, with a whole series of activities aimed at attracting more female users during the year, especially through Binance Academy events. To promote the project, the cex also organized a pop-up in a shopping center.
“Bold, distinctive and deliberately disruptive, CRYPTO is not a perfume we are marketing but a message to women that they have a significant role to play in the crypto revolution,” said Rachel Conlan, chief marketing officer at Binance, for whom the fragrance should help to "break the barriers" between the industry and the female world. “We are here to tell women around the world not to be spectators, to break glass ceilings, challenge narratives and become part of this digital transformation that will redefine global finance.”
Also on the merits of the initiative, Binance has planned to reward the first 5 thousand women who complete a crypto course on Binance Academy with a $25 voucher in USDT.
A gender problem
The topic of gender imbalance in the crypto world (but also more generally in the financial world) has been under discussion for a long time. And even recently, for example, GWI's Digital 2024 Global Overview Report highlighted the problem.
“Cryptocurrencies are universal: it's about empowering all individuals, and it's time to ensure that no woman is left behind in this financial revolution,” Conlan concluded.
