ARTIFICIAL THOUGHT
Since the introduction of CHAT GPT much, and by many are making claim to its wondrous, new found capacity to expand the horizons of human expression ARTIFICIALLY. Type in a `Prompt' sufficiently worded to incite all manner of outcome from projecting the Stock Market to completing a University level essay, almost anything short of who-knows-what. Of course much of the hype goes beyond what this language generating AI is capable, at least for the present.
Where my imaginings have taken is to present GPT with the opening stanza or words to already written poetry and prose, respectively. And see how close the product is to the original theme of the Human-completed poem or prose. Astonishing is the depth of emotion the AI's poetry did emote, and the depth of human insight to be expressed.
Much can be read into this but leave it to the reader here to decide: (what follows is a number of examples, the Prompt being to request a poem or prose be finished in response to what is provided)
1. From this opening stanza, finish the poem: "Conscious presence of Mind, Without which there is nothing to find; Nor reason for purpose to define; Nor form of structure to space in time."
But with the Mind's presence, all comes alive,
The world around us, and the self inside.
Purpose and meaning are brought to light,
Structure and order, all made right.
The Mind is the source of all creation,
The driving force behind every sensation.
It guides us through life's twists and turns,
And helps us navigate the lessons we must learn.
So let us honor the conscious presence of Mind,
And all the wonders it helps us to find.
For without it, the world would be a empty and cold,
But with it, our lives are enriched and unfold.
2. From this opening stanza, finish the poem: "I can only conclude failure
Not able to strike the right chord;
For all that’s been written, to endure,
Has gone without it’s reader reward."
But I will not give up, no matter the cost,
I'll keep on writing, no matter the loss.
For though my words may not yet sing,
I know that someday, they'll take wing.
I'll keep on striving, day after day,
To find the perfect words to say.
For I know that if I persevere,
My writing will one day, endear.
So I'll keep on writing, no matter the fate,
For I know that eventually, I'll find my mate.
The reader who will understand and appreciate,
The words that I've labored to create.
3. From this first stanza, finish this poem: "I feel like the toy you play with
Only when you want to"
But when you're done, you set me aside, To collect dust, until the next time you decide.
I am but a plaything, a mere distraction,
Something to pass the time, with no real satisfaction.
I long to be more, to be truly seen,
To be loved and valued, for who I really am, not just what I mean.
But until then, I'll just be a toy,
Used and discarded, without any joy.
4. From this stanza, finish the poem: "Through music I have found my Soul
It took me to this moment to finally know
All my search for the what to – finally know
Dissolving to the dance of the music to – finally know
So, my Soul will too - finally know!"
Now I can finally let go, Of all the doubts and fears that held me so.
For through the music, I have found my way,
To the true essence of who I am, and what I have to say.
So let the music take control,
As I surrender to the rhythm of my soul.
For through the dance, I am finally free,
To be who I am meant to be, and finally see,
The beauty and purpose of my life, and all it holds,
As my soul takes flight, and finally knows.
5. From the following complete the poem: "I peer around a corner, and what do I see
The image of a person whom resembles me
But uncertain truly, how could this be
For the Person I know....."
For the person I know, is but a shadow of who I used to be.
But this person standing before me, is strong and full of life,
A reflection of all the struggles and strife,
That I've faced and overcome, on my journey through time.
I stare in wonder, at this person who seems so familiar yet unknown,
And I realize, that I have finally grown,
Into the person I always wanted to be,
Strong and confident, with my own unique identity.
So I step forward, with a newfound sense of pride,
Embracing the person that I see on the other side,
For this is who I am, and who I was meant to be,
And I am ready to face the world, with my true identity.
The result are very impressive and certainly meet the rigors of original thought poetically expressed
