This beautiful sea-land crab is called Ocypode Ryderi. He lives mainly on the sandy beaches of the Indian Ocean. This particular individual lives on the island of Zanzibar. There are two individuals in the photos. One of them lives literally next to our hotel deckchair.

All photos show males. They have one overgrown jaw, which they use to fight for the female.

This species is omnivorous, very resistant to dehydration.
