I have written about this open-air museum before, but mainly about buildings from various regions, mainly Silesia. Today, however, I will tell you a little about a walk that took place in the summer, and its main point was not the museum buildings themselves, but the sculptor and his work.

This is quite an unusual place, because the sculptor is not a substitute, but an authentic creator. Anyway, the whole open-air museum deviates a bit from the convention of a museum, because animals are bred and plants are grown there.

Franciszek Wojtowicz Sculpture Gallery

This beautiful exhibition of sculptures, and there are over 700 of them, are the works of the sculptor Franciszek Wojtowicz. His works depict characters appearing in the world of tales, songs, folk tales, mainly from the region of Silesia.

The Sculpture Gallery is not only a point on the tourist map, where, of course, we can buy a sculpture after price negotiations. Sculpture workshops are organized here throughout the year.

Paying a small amount (preferably in organized groups) we will learn the rules of this craft, the species of wood from which sculptures are best made and what tools to use for this purpose. Of course, the whole thing ends with a small practical test, where we can assess our artistic abilities.

However, you cannot walk around the open-air museum without returning to the beautiful buildings from different regions of Silesia and from different periods. These are pearls of rural architecture from the areas of the Silesian Beskids, Cieszyn Foothills, Pszczyńsko-Rybnickie, Bytomsko-Tarnogórski and Lublinieckie. When I walk around the open-air museum, I always think about the beautiful Polish countryside.

A beautiful windmill from the village of Grzawa from the first half of the 19th century, after renovation, looks as if it was built a few years ago.

The must-see attractions also include the beautiful Church of Saint Joseph the Worker. This Roman Catholic building was built in the village of Nieboczowy on the Oder River and dates back to 1791. However, the foundation of this church was a chapel from 1380. The facility has undergone many changes, but the interior is breathtaking.
