This fungus is another representative of widely spread but little-known arboreal fungi.

It can be found throughout Europe, both Americas, Asia and even in North Africa.

It prefers moist places on rotting coniferous trees, on the bark. It is very rarely found on deciduous wood.

The hollow leg can be about 8 cm long. It has a cylindrical shape, often curved. The color is similar to that of the cap, darker at the base. The flesh is yellowish, light brown in color. The taste is bitter and the smell imperceptible. The color is pale to reddish-yellowish, and the base of the stipe is brown. The taste is more or less bitter, the smell is indistinct. The mushroom is considered slightly poisonous.

It grows most often in small clumps on all the remains and waste of coniferous trees. Often even in tree landfills. In Europe it appears in summer, usually in August and grows until late autumn.
