THere are a bunch of myths following the natural phenomenon of lunar eclipse as we can see tonight. What makes it special is that this lunar eclipse is accured when the moon's position is closer to the earth. As I took my sons out to witness the Super Blood Moon in our front yard, my father came along joined us bringing a bucket of water, left it on the ground and came back into the house without saying anything.

Curious, Alf my second born ran after his grandfather. Myself and Al the first born followed right behind, walking. But we're close enough to hear the discussion between the grandson and granpa.

"GranPa, what was that water in the bucket? Why you need to put it in the front yard and what is that for?" He asked so fast while holding Granpa's right hand and shaking it impatiently. Granpa looked at him, smiled and say "I need to collect the water of the eclipse and bring the water to our rice (paddy) field tomorrow."

"Why is it?" Alf asked again, this time without having to shake his Granpa's hand. He got Granpa's attention, and surely will get more of his great story toningt. We joined the Grandpa and Grandson discussion and gathered in the living room with the doors open so we can still observe the progress of the eclipse.

My Father starts his story with the current condition of our paddy field, where the rice are starting to bloom and that the event of eclipse (lunar eclipse like tonight) can hinder the growth of plentiful grains of the paddy plants. But the impact can be neutralized if the next day, first thing in the morning, the water kept under the eclipse (the one that my Father has prepared in the bucket) is given to the paddy field.

So, that is how we spent tonight's eclipse viewing by listening to Granpa's story, an old farmer's myth of lunar eclipse
