The Life of Goats

as amorous couple I was
with her
on the banks
of the Tigres river
on the ground there were
דרײַ סקאָרפּיאַנז
in thickets of wild onions

goats feasting on
shrubs succulent and conifers
so wet a silken quiver
+
I smelled jasmine so sweet
in her locks
she reminded me of a certain
chapter in the Apocrypha

I swelled as we had woven cornrows
in slight of tryst, candor
I was caught
such music came as a gift

a somber mood
as we did relish in this land
the fulcrum of Zoroastrians

They may say دین زرتشتی
I will learn swerving
and tongue kissed
type groove Enumi Elish

type smooth Fatoumata lips
Diawara that is
So close to her lips
adjective yes yet diasporic
