Many people have heard of chainalysis and how they are able to prove who is whom in the crypto world...that is, until it was proven that they really couldn't.
In a recent court hearing, where Chainalysis was used to show that a man named Roman Sterlingov used crypto in an illegal way, the person representing the company said that they knew the service worked...because of customer reviews.
With this, Lola Leetz, a Bitcoin enthusiast who blogs about crypto, went to Twitter, and called the company out.
She was recently on the 'What Bitcoin Did' podcast with host Peter McCormack talking about how chainalysis believes there is nothing wrong, when other parties who checked into their findings said there were serious issues.
Many intelligence agencies use them to catch crypto criminals, and like Roman, they are sitting behind bars, probably innocent, simply because chainalysis said they committed a crime.
If you have ever completed KYC on any exchange, or shilled your Bitcoin address tied to your identity, chainalysis has your data in a log.
It is said that they are even able to track transactions in a Bitcoin mixer, but this is still unverified.
As I said time and time again, don't KYC, and you will be free...
