I have been to a few cities (mainly in Europe) and hope to visit many more God willing.
Below is a list in ranked order in my opinion:
(1) Budapest:
I was actually surprised by Budapest. So much architecture and many beautiful buildings. Highlights were
Fishermans Bastion - Really impressive architecture inc. Church.
Parliament building - Saw this from the Danube and on dry land. I thought it was more impressive than the UK houses of Westministee at least from the outside. I didnt do a tour.
Heroes Square - Again very impressive with many statute monuments.
Thermal Baths - One if the big attractions are the various thermal baths dotted about Budapest. We went to the Gelert and were very impressed.
Opera House - A miniature version if Vienna opera house apparently and we were again very impressed by the interior.
Margaret Island - You really need to hire a bike to go round this island but it has a mjni zoo and a japanese garden among other things to enjoy. Worth a visit entrance is in middle of bridge in Danube.
(2) Paris - Have been here a few times before the terrorist attacks and fire at Notre Dame which I am sure have impacted tourism. So many sites to visit. My favourite is Sacre Cour although Versailles house and gardens are very impressive due to their sheer vastness.
(3) Rome - Trevi fountain was my favourite place here. I thought the Colliseum was smaller than I expected but still impressive.
(4) New York - Different type of city with Monumemts to Twin towers and Statue of Liberty and Empire State building. My favourite item here was the night time tour of Manhatten skyline. Amazing.
(5) Venice - Thankfully avoided visit during flooding. St Marks Basilica was impressive but even more so was the Doges palace and all its splendour with its contrasting prison traversed by the Bridge of Sighs. Rialto bridge was also worth a visit as were Murano and Burano for their Glass and Lace production respectively plus Burano multi coloured houses sitting off its canals.
(6) Krakow - Again very different experience. More harrowing going to places like Aushwitz and Schindlers factory. Salt mines were very impressive with salt crystal chandeliers.
(7) Prague - Enjoyed Prague but thought Budapest was more impressive. Charles Bridge and palaces were main attractions here.
(8) Amsterdam - Anne Frank house and Riks museum were visited here and tour of canals was also undertaken. Believe it or not the red light district is a tourist attraction here. Damm square was also worth a visit.
(9) Lisbon - My ex boss suggested a visit here and again didnt disappoint. He described it like a mini Paris and that was good description. There was like a mini Champs et Elleyes and Sintra a few miles away by train was a collection of palaces.
(10) London - I am from UK so probably dont appreciate UK cities as much as I should. London highlights include Westminister, Tower of London (tour recommended), Tower bridge, Trafalgar Square, London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park etc
(11) Seville - This should actually be higher but I almost forgot about it. Beautiful city with noteable sites being Royal Alcazar where some Game if Thrones scenes were filmed. Plaza de Espana, Seville cathedrak and Giralda Tower. Plus the orange trees all around the city.
(12) Dublin - The shopping is the main attraction along with the Guiness factory,St Stephens Green and the welcome from locals.
(13) Boston - Another one I almost forgot. Highlight was the Museum of fine arts. If you are into arts you could spend days here. New England is main area to visit not just Bostin.
(14) Palermo - Quite a dirty city if you go off main streets. Tourist attractions in city are not maintained very well. The island is better noted for Taorimina and its ampitheatre and my favourite was Agrigento and its valley if temples.
