Stuart Russell said eight years ago: "Unless we, as humankind, destroy ourselves by another method, the surpassing of human intelligence by artificial intelligence is inevitable. In a while, AI robots will be walking among us in the streets. They will wash clothes, harvest crops in the fields, and cook meals for you." Responding to claims that artificial intelligence could bring about the end of humanity, Russell said, “Right now, AI doesn’t have emotions like humans. In the future, to prevent AI from bringing about the end of a world where humanity lives, we must program them according to what we want from them. AI will surpass human intelligence at some point.
