A report prepared by the US State Department's Office of the Inspector General cites "hundreds" of human rights violations allegedly committed by the Israeli military in Gaza. Conservative circles also believe that relations with Israel should be questioned. This is evident in the results of the research. The Pew Research Center published a survey of 3,445 adults, titled “How Do Americans View the Israel-Hamas Conflict in the Second Year of the War?” in early October. The report found that Americans’ skepticism of Israel’s operation and its government is much higher than it was in previous periods of the conflict: 39% of respondents believe Israel has gone too far in its military operation against Hamas. This figure was 31% a year ago and 27% by the end of 2023.
The percentage of Americans who say Trump has shown undue favoritism to Israel has increased by 5 points since March (from 31% to 36%), while the percentage who say Trump has struck the right balance has decreased by 6 points (from 29% to 23%). The report also reveals an interesting pattern regarding military aid to Israel: One-third of adults (33%) say the US provides more military aid to Israel than necessary, while approximately One-quarter (23%) think the US is providing the right amount of aid, while a small 8% say the US is not providing enough military aid to Israel. These figures are much higher among adults aged 18-29: 42% of these respondents believe the US is providing too much military aid to Israel, while this figure drops to 24% among those aged 65 and over.
35% of respondents say the US is not providing enough humanitarian aid to Palestinian citizens in Gaza, while 9% believe it is providing more than enough. 21% say the right amount of aid is being provided.
