Elon Musk Unveils Autonomous Taxi

And finally Elon Musk gets in the Cybercab. The doors of Tesla's two-person autonomous taxi open to the side like wings. There is no steering wheel or pedals in the car. It was designed as a taxi that will carry only two people. This was thought of because the majority of taxi rides in the world are made by one or two people. This both makes the vehicle smaller and pulls its costs back. A studio belonging to Warner Bros., a studio in Hollywood, was closed for this purpose and a city was literally created here. Tesla continues on its way here. It took Elon Musk to the Tesla Theater, the main presentation location. It was a very important day for Tesla, in terms of showing where Tesla has come in autonomous driving, robots and artificial intelligence, and they really made a magnificent preparation. This magnificent preparation fascinated long-term Tesla investors like me. What short-term investors think, what Wall Street thinks, things are a bit complicated there, we will come to that at the end of my article. But first, let's look at what we learned and saw in a little more detail.

There were 30 of Tesla's Cybercabs in the area. They created a detailed city here. Tesla says it will put these into production before 2027. Unfortunately, Elon Musk did not say anything more clearly, he said it could be in 2026. He said that in 2025, but the current Tesla model, Model 3 and Model Y, will have fully autonomous driving and will start operating in Texas and California just like Waymo. Frankly, there was not much clarity there about whether these will operate like taxis. Tesla Cybercab is designed for two people. It seems like an economical vehicle. It will be sold for around $30,000. People will buy this car and use it themselves if they want, or they can rent it out to a fleet like Uber, that's the idea. In the meantime, they have developed some technologies for the car to wash and clean itself.

Also, the car will charge wirelessly. They said they have come up with such a solution. But before 2026, I think it will not be on the roads much before 2027, which is even more realistic. When these are on the roads, people will no longer buy cars, so there will be no need for parking lots, says Elon Musk. He says transportation costs can drop to 20 cents per mile. Currently, this is 1.2 - 1.3 - 1.7 dollars for cars you own. This is 2.5 dollars for services like Uber. In that context, it is 100% certain that it is a truly ambitious project. There were also surprises at the launch. One of the surprises is Tesla's Minivan, which may not be called a Minivan at all. It is the size of a walking house, Elon Musk says that from now on, you will provide most of your transportation with Cybercabs. But you may want public transportation to some places or a larger vehicle. There is this right there, he says. It is a somewhat futuristic project. They didn't give much detail about it anyway. Only people get out of the vehicle, and thanks to this, we had the chance to take a look inside the vehicle. This is a matter of a slightly more futuristic future, I don't think it is very important for now.

Another important detail of the day is the robots. Humanoid robots were there and they poured beer for people, served them, gave them gifts, chatted and played games. Tesla showed us the future here too. He explained how far he has come in humanoid robots. However, there are not many details about these. Elon Musk says we will sell them for around $30,000 and everyone will need one of these. In other words, Tesla showed what the future will look like and how he will be involved in them. People touched these products, took taxis, walked around the Warner Bros. studio, chatted with the robots and played. So far, everything is great and I think it is great to be a partner in such a company. But there was not much that would contribute to the price of the stock in the short term. On the contrary, yesterday's presentation may even work against the stock in the short term.

The main reason for this is that Elon Musk did not go into details. We have learned almost no details. We only know the following; These cars will be sold for $30,000. People will use them themselves or give them to the fleet if they want. Next year, the Model 3 and Model Y will begin offering fully autonomous driving in California and Texas, and they will likely offer a precursor robotaxi service. Other than that, we haven’t learned much. That’s why Wall Street won’t like it. As you know, Wall Street already finds Tesla expensive, and unless this vision of the future becomes clear and quantified, Wall Street’s tendency to sell Tesla continues. Of course, what happens during the day is a separate issue. Therefore, I can’t say that great days await Tesla investors in the short term or perhaps even in the medium term.

If you believe in this future in the long term and believe that Elon Musk will take Tesla here, you can remain an investor or maybe buy it from where it falls. If you do not believe in this future and that Elon Musk will take the right company here, I would say do not get involved at all. Because there are still too many issues that have not yet been concreted. Yes, the products are concrete, they provide service, they work. Although Cybercabs are not ready to hit the roads yet, they are working smoothly in a closed environment. But Tesla is still far from this vision, you need to be patient for another year or two. Until then, the thing that will affect Tesla's price in the near term is its balance sheet. If I am not mistaken, its balance sheet is coming in the next 10 days. Wall Street will be more interested in what it sees in the balance sheet. Wall Street did not come across the data that it would fit into the right places in its own Excel models yesterday. Some Wall Street players who are interested in technology will make new simulations and so on tomorrow. But a large part of Wall Street will say that this is all bullshit, let's look at shorter-term investments.

This is the situation, I am personally convinced. Elon will do these things and I have been a Tesla investor for a long time. I am a man who is used to suffering. Frankly, I definitely want to be a part of this future. I would like to see a more detailed presentation. I wish they had also presented a two-seater steering wheel car here that would be sold at these prices. Elon prefers to play bigger. He has already shelved that project completely. This is news that Wall Street will not like and says I will do all or nothing. I believe that we are moving towards fully autonomous driving and if you are going to be a part of this future, come and be a long-term investor with me or else not. It is that simple.
