How safe is HouseParty!

Several complaints from Houseparty users appear on the internet on suspicion of misuse of personal data, after the application's popularity has grown in recent weeks. The charges were denied by the company on Twitter, where it said the service was secure.

Founded in 2016, the application known for allowing group video chatting using games, from the cell phone or computer, has stood out during the quarantine period of millions of people due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, Houseparty users have reported unusual situations some time after its installation, as reported by the British newspaper "Daily Mail" this Monday. Among them, unwanted guests during their conversations, and attacks on Netflix, Spotify, PayPal, Uber accounts, as well as bank accounts, from which money has been diverted. Emails with password changes or accesses made abroad (Russia and Poland) are also included in complaints published on the internet.

In view of the controversial statements, the company published on Twitter, guaranteeing that "all Houseparty accounts are secure" and that "the service is secure, has never been compromised and does not collect passwords for other sites".

Created by Life on Air Inc., Houseparty is now controlled by Epic Games, which owns the game "Fortnite".
