The most populated African country, Nigeria has recorded its first case of the deadly CODVID-19 (Coronavirus) in the country on Thursday, February 27, 2020.
Report from the local media has it that the health minister, Dr Osagie Ehanire in a signed statement confirmed that the Nigerian country has recorded her very first case of the CODVID-19 virus since the outbreak.
In a statement recorded by the Nigeria Daily Post, it was an Italian national who contracted the deadly virus in Milan but was unaware before returning to Nigeria on February 25, 2020. The virology laboratory of the Lagos university teaching hospital which forms part of the laboratory network of the Nigeria centre for disease control (NCDC) confirmed the disease of the Italian after several tests as coronavirus.
The Italian national is currently in a stable condition with no serious symptoms of the disease and is admitted at the infectious disease hospital in Yaba, Lagos.
The Nigerian health minister has asked all citizens to calm their nerves as all emergency centres across the country have been activated including the multi-sector coronavirus preparedness group which is led by the NCC who in turn will closely work with the Lagos state health in curbing the deadly virus or disease.
