I will tell you - one of the scariest moments of my life was when I passed my bar exam. For me, that meant that I had no choice no but to practice law or starve. Really was that simple since I needed to make income for me and my wife who just happened to start law school.
I always told myself that law was simply a means to an end. A way to make money until I figure out what I want to do “when I grow up.” I did everything right. I started at a small medical malpractice defense firm and then progressively made my way up the career ladder. I thought I hit the jackpot when I joined DLA Piper. More money than I had ever seen in my life and I was like “this is it!”
Now life has a funny way to throw you for a loop. I’m there maybe 6 months and then told I’m done. What now? Here is the funny thing… once a few months passed, I realized that this was meant to be my next step.
I discovered my passions I didn’t know I had in me. To be honest, I never had any passion… ever. Now, it’s unbridled. Investing, reading, crypto and, most importantly, helping people. These are what my life needs now. This is my purpose here. It took awhile and I did what I was supposed to do and now I get the gift of true happiness. This is how I want the next phase of my career to go. Happy and helping people, can’t go wrong.
