Hi, my name is Marie, a 20 year old college student with an uneventful college life. I have friends that keep me company and make some days less boring, but it feels like something is missing if I'm being completely honest. I'm an average girl who's not really exceptional in any way and I'm not even a social butterfly so I only have a small circle of friends. Although it's small, I still love and care about them deeply. Still, there's that feeling; maybe I need more friends? or maybe I want something more? I understood the answer to these questions of mine one fine day in our university library...
For some reason, the library was packed with students today so only a few seats were left unoccupied. I had no choice but to occupy the seat in front of a student engrossed in drawing. I noticed he had earphones on while drawing. I understand why he’s wearing them though, those students at the other end of the table were just too noisy for my taste and his apparently. I then drowned their noise with music as I read through my book. After reading only for about 20 minutes, I found myself staring at the guy drawing in front of me. He was really good. By the looks of it, he was drawing a portrait of a girl, a very pretty one at that. He made a 2D girl look stunning on paper. I was just left staring at his drawing for a good 30 minutes I believe. When I finally came to my senses and realized I was staring for too long, I met his gaze. Now, he was the one staring. It was pretty embarrassing to be caught staring. I couldn’t feign ignorance at that point on so I just flashed him a smile after complimenting his beautiful drawing. I didn’t even receive a response though. If ever he smiled in response, I wouldn’t be able to tell for he was wearing a mask. Perhaps he was sick, I said to myself. He didn’t even utter a single word or make any sound at all. He just kept staring at me so I just flashed him another smile before continuing my reading.
I couldn’t handle his stare so I just fixated my gaze on my book. I never looked up since then. I was too embarrassed to look again. I didn’t want him to think I was a weirdo. Yet I badly wanted to see the final outcome of his drawing. After having a debate with myself whether I should sneak a peek or not, I finally decided to appease my curiosity and take a quick look at his drawing. To my dismay, he was already gone. It’s too bad I didn’t get a last look on his drawing. I tidied up my things as I kept thinking of my disappointment.
I again went to the library the next day to review for an upcoming test. I couldn’t concentrate on my readings though and instead just stared at the sky. It was sunny today. While admiring the bright sky, I heard a noise which sounded like a chair being pulled. I then turned to the source of the noise and found that a familiar figure was now seated in front of me. He was preparing to draw again. He immediately started on his drawing after putting on his earphones. He kept on drawing in between his coughs. He still had a mask on so I guess he really was sick. I gathered my courage in order to give him something for his throat. I wrote down “This is for your throat. I hope it somehow relieves the pain.” on a piece of paper. I added a smiley face on the note and then added the candy on top of it before sliding it over to his side of the table. After doing so, I had to prepare to leave or else I would be late for my next class. I was rummaging through my things when I realized that I lost my eraser. I looked for it under the table and it was there so I had to crouch down to grab it. I then left in a hurry to be able to make it on time for my next class. As I ran down the stairs, I remembered how I always dreaded attending that certain class of mine.
I barely made it in time before the professor would mark me as late in her record. I quickly brought out my notebook after sitting down. To my surprise, upon opening my notebook, there was a note in between the pages. It read, “Thank you for the candy.”. There’s even a small doodle of a boy on the lower right side of the note. The thought of him making an effort to draw even a small doodle made me smile. This small note made my day and made me smile throughout the entire subject. I frequently stayed at the library after that day and started to harbor hope that I’d get to see him even once or twice a week. But ever since then, I never got the chance to see him. He was nowhere to be seen so I often fell asleep trying to wait for him to show up.
One day, I fell asleep in one of those tables beside the window of our library. I was trying to recover even a few hours of the sleep I’ve lost during the past few days so instead of studying in the library, I only slept. The library became my second bedroom. Judging by the time in my watch, I slept for about an hour already. It was more than enough for my so called “power nap”. If I slept any longer, I would have a hard time waking up. Upon waking, I found a note on the table. “Here, as thanks for the candy.”, the note said. There was a candy on top of the note. I smiled at this cute gesture of his. He didn’t have to give a candy in return, yet he still did. After a few days, I tried not falling asleep, but I never got a glimpse of him. I had no luck even since then. I slowly came to forget about him as days became weeks, as time passed by.
To be continued...

THANKS SO MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS!
♥♥♥And to anyone who has read this far, I hope you're having a lovely day. If not, I pray that things will only get better for you from now on. Remember that things won't stay bad forever~♥♥♥
