2nd Batch Gardenscape

This is a continuation of the plants that I have in my little garden in front of the house. You may check out earlier post for the other plants that I have grown. Most of these are grown during the lockdown period that was implemented by the government.

PandanPandan 2

These are pandan plants given by my immediate neighbor. I have grown them in 2 different kind of pots, the regular and 9.5 litres mineral water container. So far they are growing quite well with the one on the left having it roots poking out of the hole that I made at the bottom of the container. Actual this is the second time I'm trying to grow pandan. The first time round I had planted on the ground but it die off after about 2 weeks. Soil wasn't too suitable as it was hard and compressed. Main reason that I HAVE to plant this is because Wife says the car interior smells and uses the leaves to kill off the smell. Furthermore she can uses the leaves in some of her dishes too.

Onion leaves

This miserable looking plant is onion. When I first started growing, it was healthy and tall. After Wife pulled out a couple of the onions instead snipping at it, it has become like this. Even though new leaves have sprouted I'm unsure how this will grow. I haven't been too successful at planting onion yet and will continue to plant new ones if this one dies off too. If anyone have any tips for me on how to successfully plant it, do leave me a comment. Wife doesn't allow me to plunder her limited stock of onions that's used for cooking. I usually will only take those which have sprouted to grow.

ChiliChili 2

These two pots are Cili Padi or Birds Eye Chili for some. They are grown off store bought chilies. The first pot has slightly too many plants, about 4 of it. One of it is stunted but still growing chilies. As their roots are all entangled, I can't just pulled them out to plant in different port so I will need to cut it off as close to the roots are possible. The chili here are not that much but still reasonable considering the amount of chili plant sharing the same pot. The second pot is much better with only 1 single chili plant. Bountiful flowers and chilies growing at the same time. I use a small brush to "play" with the chili flowers whenever I see them. At time of counting, there are about more than 20 chilies on this plant. I have shared this chilies with my neighbor who have given me the pandan plant as they believe my chili were grown from a good batch of seeds. Hopefully it works out well for them.

KetumbarKetumbar 2

These couple of pots are Sawtooth Coriander or known as Culantro. This is herb mainly use for seasoning, marinating and garnishing. Wife use this herb a lot whenever she makes beef pho or chicken pho. It is easily grown too as I notice small groups of Sawtooth Coriander all over the garden soil. It will keep growing and continue to give you a fresh supply even after you have harvest the leaves. The sawtooth coriander is easily propagated from its seeds. You can harvest the seeds from the flower heads after they turn brown. Do remember to cut off the flower head so the plant can focus to grow more new leaves. I personally love the smell of this herb too as it is very fragrant.

Till next post, I'm off to have a bowl of pho with fresh plucked Sawtooth Coriander leaves from the garden.

Happy New Year 2021 and a Blessed New Year to everyone!
