The ancient structure of "White Mosque" or as locals call it “Espi Mazgat”, is located 80 km west of Rasht and 22 km south of Talesh in Gilan province, Iran
This mysterious old building belongs to the Sassanid Empire in Iran. When I say the Sassanid Empire, it means very very old. And this mosque may belong to the period from 224 to 651 AD, which means it can’t actually be a mosque. Many people say that this is not a mosque but a fire temple, and after the arrival of Islam in Iran, they change it to a mosque.
For those who don’t know, a fire temple is, the place of worship for the followers of Zoroastrianism, the ancient religion of Iran (Persia)
It feels good to come here. But no attention is paid to this beautiful building. And despite being part of the history of the people of this area, it has left alone in this corner of jungle half-ruined. Some say that if the situation continues like this and the negligence of the officials continues, this historical monument, which was registered in the national monuments of Iran 20 years ago, will soon collapse.
We cyclists come here from time to time.
I like the feeling of tranquility, and kindness of the area around this mosque, which always brings peace in pleasant silence.
On the other side, you can see the forest and the trees that surround the green space around the Espi Mazgat like the warriors who selflessly gathered around the queen in the last stand to guard her against the invaders.
