"Fuga in Consequenza" for Pipe Organ [Philip Daniel; 2015]

By PhilipDaniel | Musica Melopoetica | 29 Oct 2020

A fugue composed right at the onset of (or perhaps just prior to) my compositional maturity, in October 2015, containing within it the seeds of my later style as it proceeded to develop over the ensuing years. (Though the term "fuga in consequenza" first arose as a synonym for canon, here I use it in the sense of a fugue that combines canonic elements with a somewhat free and more organic contrapuntal unfurling.)

The painting in the video is "Dantis Amor" by Dante Gabriel Rossetti.
