Mah Banoo Assembly is an Iranian traditional band that was founded and directed by Majid Derakhshani in 2012. So far, three songs from this music band, most of whom are female musicians, have been released on the Internet. I admit the first time I saw these videos, I told myself, they are definitely outside the country, but then I asked myself “if they are not in Iran, why did they bother to wear Hijab?!
Those who watch the videos of these women on the Internet may think that "Iranian women are singing!" "So it is a lie that singing is forbidden for women in Iran!"
Yes! These brave women released these videos and were punished for it and tried in court. Their goal was to break down the barriers of the extremist and the dictatorial regime.
Likely, 90% of them will no longer be able to work as musicians in their own country because women singing in Iran is a red line, but fortunately, they can emigrate. Although the invisible hands of the tyrannical regime will follow them abroad, they will not stop fighting.
