Today, I have the pleasure of writing about one of my other passions besides blockchain and cryptocurrency and that would be music and entertainment.
In the recent years the music and entertainment scene has seen a rise in Christian pop/rap/hip-hop/country. All these genres have been dominated individually by modern musicians not afraid to push the envelope when it comes to declaring or defending their faith. Starting my favorite, I will list the top four musicians changing and shaking things up in the christian music genre starting with my personal favorite.
1. Art Mikveh - Christian/Hip-Hop
Released in May 2019 was the single "Heartz" featuring two modern classic songs "Born 2 Rise" & "God Watching Me". In the song "Born 2 Rise" Art Mikveh channels his faith and common world problems and the way he's able to keep his faith in God strong. In "God Watching Me" he really gets deep in his life and channel moments in his childhood which brought him closer to God. To his credit, he released a collaboration project he wrote in 2012 and released it in 2019 "Anointed" featuring popular musician Maylee Todd. The top track on the collaboration is entitled "Burn".
Very much so worth the listen and your support.
2. Zac Brown Band - American Rock/Gospel
Released in April 2015 was the album "Jekyll + Hyde" and according to the band they wanted to make an album which reflects on their faith and achieved this with the song "Remedy". Introduced on the bands album review section on the all music website,
''Those honors are reserved for the band's self-written tunes: "Remedy" weds country-gospel to a Celtic reel with multi-part vocal harmonies and finally to modern praise & worship; it's a clear standout.'' Allmusic
The album is great and worth the listen and worth your support.
3. Skillet - Religious Pop/Rock
When the group debuted in the late 1990s, the music scene was very different. Christian pop/rock was not racking in the revenue it has been in recent years. From the beginning until the end "Skillet" will always wear the honors of pioneer and trendsetter and continue to be the standard for future Christian pop.
Their newest project "Victorious" was released in August 2019. A great Christian band worth the listen and your support.
4. NF - Christian Rap
Not my personal favorite but much like we put up with certain people and companies in the cryptocurrency community, the end goal is mass adoption and the bigger picture. The dislike here is the way NF is signed to a Christian recording label and classifies himself a Christian musician but denounces making music for Christians which makes many question why not sign to a non-Christian recording label but my guess is a Christian recording label was the only one that would give him shot.
Regardless, Christian musicians are single individual messengers and the way they spread the gospel or information through music about faith and why it's important to have in all areas of life. NF is no exception in that sense and anyone in world of Hollywood willing to declare their faith in God is a winner in my book, especially when there's so much at stake for doing so.
In 2019, NF was the first Christian Rap musician in American music history to not only reach number #1 on the music charts but hold that coveted position for a very long time.
Good music and worth the listen.
“No one calls for justice, nor does any plead for truth. They trust in empty words and speak lies; they conceive evil and bring forth iniquity. They hatch vipers’ eggs and weave the spider’s web; He who eats of their eggs dies, and from that which is crushed a viper breaks out...Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands afar off; for truth is fallen in the street” (Isaiah 59:1-5, 14).
