Mean Streats (1973)

"You don’t make up for your sins in church. You do it in the streets. You do it at home. The rest is bullshit and you know it." The story is about a young gangster Charlie, whom his life was destined thanks influential uncle in the district with strict rules. Nevertheless, he tried to help as he can and constantly doubting his direction. Only belief in God is the only support for him, which is regularly shaken by his incorrigible friend Johny who owes money wherever he goes. Classic scorsese‘s hero who must deal with conflict. This hero between reality and the world which he would like to have. Excellent musical accompaniment and perfect camera support dynamic atmosphere of nightclubs environment. Harvey Keitel played a major role very good and Robert De Niro supports him.

The Last Temptation of Christ (1988)

Dogmatic conservatism bungles the clergy so that it can not accept the logical theory about Jesus, which is not man only physically, but also mentally and thus he is closer to the people. No one would probably be more convincing in the role of doubting Christ than Willem Dafoe with their sharp traits. Sincerely believing Christian Scorsese mastered the movie technically again the great and gave a new, more human image of the Messiah to the world. Harvey Keitel's performance as Judas was very good too. 

Bringing Out the Dead (1999)

On the trip with Scorsese in his dirty streets. Nicolas Cage as tired, totally exhausted, life disappointed with in the main role of paramedic which work always consumes all his physical energy. what is even more difficult to endure all his cases psychologically, to be support for the people when himself would need a therapist. He is on the edge of lunacy. He is constantly looking for peace of mind through which he could recover from the workload. Screenwriter skilfully intensifies nocturnal trips of main character and his mental state by variations of his partners. First, it is a passive Larry presented by John Goodman, whose sole purpose is to eat a good meal, who takes away his energy, then excessively active and vital Marcus performed by Ving Rhames, whom Cage is not enough and that exhausts him, and finally spiteful and vindictive Tom Walls presented by Tom Sizemore, who awakens in him the worst. Martin Scorsese once again aligned in the film all he could and prepared us an unforgettable night ride, which reaches to the bottom of psychic powers.

Shutter Island (2010)

Engaging story about detective with a very good defense mechanism and shattering mental health, who came to the island, where people travel without return and is governed by its own rules, in addition to the official investigation could reveal the illegal treatment methods. The cast excellent, and even at the end of the movie director offers other version of the story. Who confounded conclusion, I recommend book of the same name by Dennis Lehane, where the author determined in the prologue already that the story will have only one interpretation. But Scorsese has done its job perfectly.

Silence (2016)

Martin Scorsese once again about the faith, this time without any temptation or nagging communists. Epic of Christianity, where one can enjoy a perfectionist shots and beautiful pictures of landscape (starring Japan), soulful acting performances (except for Rain expressions A. Garfield), a quiet, calm and contemplation offered thus brought faith. But you have to ask which culture actually acts violent. The director, however, offers a one-sided view, the view of the other is expressed only minimal and without the support of some activity. Scorsese with his favorite pension‘s activity again captivated. His talent does not age.
