Plot: Four urban people go on adventurous trip on the wild river that will be in short time changed to lake. But they find out that river is the least dangerous thing that they will experience on their adventure and they have to fight for their lives.

One of the treasures of cinema. Jon Voight and Burt Reynolds in their prime. From the beginning of the movie rules contentment upon the moods, although seeing the diversity of lifes and characters of urban and native people. The movie could remain in this mood and it would be enjoyable, even if the genre thriller would be omitted. The taste of the last American wilderness was not the happiest experience in life for the protagonists but they certainly have changed irreversible in their first clash with not expected enemies. The music is not necessary. All what is need is warble of birds, sounds of danger or playing guitar or banjo of characters.

Western atmosphere, likeable characters, a bloody clash with local rednecks. When you think that nothing will happen, it occurs huge psychological onslaught where nothing is certain until the last second. Uncertainty remains with unspoken answers from question to the main character, „Why do you go on these trips with me?“, to the nerve-wracking conclusion. So many unanswered questions would envy David Lynch too. The best, most intense, most beautiful wild river, I've ever seen in movies on where everyone left with a non-refundable change. Put on your life jacket, men's journey begins.

Conclusion: 10/10. One of the best work of director John Boorman with excellent performance of actors Jon Voight and Burt Reynolds. Excellent tribute to pure nature combined with genres thriller and drama that has not much rivals in quality in movies.
Another excellent movie of director John Boorman I can recommend is Excalibur.
