The Light and Truth

Praise God!  My heart dances, for we are all saved!

Ever been haunted by some distant detail?  Some old memory of a time long ago.  So thing that truly seemed insignificant and miniscule.  Yet for some reason it torments you to think about it.  It may not have even been that bad, or even under your control.

I find these moments in my life to be the ones that have molded my perspectives the most.  Usually, in my inflexibility of mindset, I get trapped into a course of action consistently.  The habits of an old behavior attempting to find purpose in new situations.  I think we have often referred to this as "tradition."

And how easy it is to rest in tradition.  No longer having to stretch ourselves, always knowing what to expect.  Slowly forgetting the reason the tradition existed in the first place.

When God challenges me.  He is challenging my bad habits, my bad traditions.  He is pushing my to see the very thing that leading me to death.  And boy does it hurt.  Nobody wants to hear that they are doing a bad job.  It's easier to just lie to yourself.

I God asks of us to love one another.  God asks of us to forgive each other.  In these moments when tradition is tested, perhaps God may be drawing out the true wisdom he has stored up in you.

"You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being." Revelation 4:11 NIV
