Celebrate and rejoice! The truth and the light of the world has been revealed to us!
Birthdays are interesting. My daughters all have birthdays coming up. I used to ask myself why it was we celebrated birthdays. Why are we taking time to give people gifts? To make them feel special on that one day that they themselves had little to do with in the first place, other than being there?
Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. We are literally celebrating the fact they exist. That on that day so long ago, had something changed, you and I would never had the pleasure of knowing them.
It's funny how little the significance of gifts become. The effort in giving the gift becomes very evident quickly. We, as the receiver, know and expect these gifts. And we recognize when the effort put forth was more so about the sender, and less about the receiver.
And when these gifts are given to us, the ones with true patience and insight behind them. Genuine and honest gifts of love. The gift truly becomes something given from the heart. Our prayers should be such.
Giving gifts to God seems illogical and pointless. Why give to the highest of the high? Surely He has all? But then I remember: These gifts are less about filling a void, and more about sharing love, joy, peace and hope with the world.
God bless you!
