The Electric Society of Arequipa seeks to improve the billing process, benefiting half a million customers.

The Electric Society of Arequipa (SEAL) in Peru enters a new stage of digital transformation by using Blockchain in order to improve data security, thanks to its encryption levels. This was reported by the Peruvian News Agency, Andina.

He cited the company's general manager, José Málaga, who said:

SEAL now with Blockchain offers a more reliable and transparent environment to its customers through the controlled digitalization of their receipts. This initiative puts us at the forefront of technology because it guarantees transparency and information security, as well as accessibility.

The agency added that currently users in their service energy receipt find a QR code that when scanned «is able to identify the integrity of the information from a decentralized network that will validate the reliability of the information being able to access it from a point of connectivity ».

Stresses that this "guarantees half a million customers to have a billing process guarantee that meets the electrical regulation and the highest international standards."

He also adds that "its level of security is so high that it cannot be hacked and even if the network falls with only one of its nodes, the information will never be lost and the service will continue to function."

Malaga also said:

With this we guarantee protection of information that will help the company to improve its processes and the user gives reliability and protection of its data regarding its consumption. This is only the beginning because it gives way to the following innovations in the fields of smart contracting, interoperability, traceability and smart measurement.

Peru and Blockchain

Thus, Malaga says that SEAL becomes one of the first companies in Peru to enter Blockchain. However, it should be emphasized that the government of that country has also dabbled in technology. It should not be forgotten that Peru Compra, the state purchasing agency, is using the blockchain to ensure transparency in the area of contracting. The government agency registered 47,152 purchase orders through its electronic catalogs platform nationwide.

Also, in Peru, Blockchain is being used for the purpose of exporting native products, in order to guarantee your traceability.
