Szeged is a nice city just to wounder around and explore. The locals are friendly and welcoming. The markets are very interesting and worth a visit. In the summer the weather is generally pleasant. I found costs in Szeged a lot cheaper than in Budapest and it is a lot less touristic but, still well worth a visit to experience Hungarian culture. A number of young people can speak English but, it is worth learning some basic Hungarian if you have the time before your trip. I love going around and trying different foods and you would not be disappointed in Hungary.

Basic Hungarian Phrases
Hello (hello, or goodbye)
Jó regelt (good morning)
Jó napot (good afternoon)
Jó éjszakát (good night)
Hogy vagy (how are you)
Kérem (please)
Köszönöm (thank you)

You can find many good Hungarian lessons on YouTube. Duolingo and Clozemaster are good apps for practicing. Even if you only learn a few words the locals will really appreciate it. But, if you really want to practice before you visit I would highly recommend preply that offers very reasonable online private lessons in Hungarian and many other languages. I have been using preply for about six months and found it a very useful resource for practicing many languages.
