LHR London Heathrow Airport is the biggest airport in the UK and the biggest in Europe. Heathrow airport is the busiest airport in Europe. It is also the 7th busiest in the world 🌎 normally Heathrow airport is very bizzy.

LGW is the second largest airport in the UK it is the 8th biggest airport in Europe and normally it is very bizzy.

28th September I flew out of Gatwick airport. The train to the airport was nearly empty and when I arrived at the airport it was like scenes from a survival film. Most of the shops were not open and the airport looked like it had been abandoned. It was really weird and not something I ever thought I would see. 

It was actually quite nice as I could find somewhere peaceful to sit.

As you can see it was very different. At the time the UK was under a lockdown and it was illegal to travel or leave the country. The train to the airport was nearly empty. The tube had very few passengers and the hotel I stayed for the night had a few guests.

I have travelled throughout the pandemic during various lockdowns and restrictions. But, the one thing that shocked me most was the lack of mask wearing at British airports. UK borderforce often did not wear a mask despite being working international airports. I did hear reports of people being prevented from leaving the UK during their restrictions but, I was never challenged. I was able to freely travel national and internationally.
