Fugging well actually Fucking until 2021 when the name was changed from fucking to fugging. Fugging is a village in Austria close to the German border. The name was changed due to the amount of visitors who would visit the small village.
I am surprised that the village did not décide to profit from this.
The village has a population of just 106 (2020). It is actually a very friendly place. That might be due to the amount of visitors its former name use to attract.
The new name fugging is still prounounced as fucking in the local dialect. Fugging was founded in the 6th century.
I read about it in a magazine and decided to include it on my road annual trip. I have not been back since the name was changed.
