Wirtland was founded on 14th August 2008 as a public initiative. On December 2018 Wirtland had a population of 8817. Citizenship is open to anyone over the age of 18. They do have an active social media presence but, do not appear to keep their website updated.
Wirtland issues ID cards to its citizens for €50, $55. They do not issue driving licences as they are not needed for internet traffic. They have also issued their own gold and silver coins. I am surprised that they still have not considered using cryptocurrency.
Wirtland has been around for quite a while and it will be interesting to what the future holds for them.
Wirtland is up for auction on ebay for 50.000$ if a company or person does purchase Wirtland could potentially become much more popular than it currently is.
