Are you addicted to social media? How many of us are addicted to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and many others? If you don’t think you are, try going without them for a week—you might be surprised with the result!
Ironically, while social media is touted as a way to bring us all together, studies have shown that it often increases people’s loneliness and unhappiness.
When you look at other people’s lives on social media, it’s easy to conclude that many people compare themselves socially to others and this leads to increases in depression and loneliness.
I’m not suggesting that we must abandon all social media. Nevertheless, many research undeniably show that reducing our time with it often does increase our happiness.
And yes, I'm guilty of using social media everyday! The good thing is, I can control myself using them and I can keep my sanity intact perusing them, distinguishing the right from wrong, deciphering the lies from truth, and being not affected from the nonsensical things and the worldly emotions!
How about you? Are you addicted to social media? Are you controlling them, or are they controlling you?
