This story goes back to February 2023, when I received $ACS tokens after I spent Coingecko candies to register for the airdrop. The initial distribution was locked for a year, but I also received some extra tokens that weren't locked. I could have sold back then but I didn't, and then watched the price dive and never recover for another year.
My HODL mentality seen some potential in Access Protocol, and was hard to say "bye-bye" to the tokens. Access had an appealing crypto vision, offering a new model monetization layer for all digital content creators. By integrating Access Protocol on their site, the creators can paywall and enable premium content to their supporters. This enables all digital media companies to prioritize user experience and realigns creator incentives.
The Access Protocol Web3 monetization platform was designed to simplify and enhance the relationship between content creators and audiences. It uses $ACS to create a unique subscription model, where users can stake tokens in a creator's pool to access premium content without needing traditional payments like credit cards.
The protocol emphasizes building community-driven incentives and engagement. It offers creators tools to identify and reward their most loyal fans, enabling tailored interactions. I stayed for the buzz, and even got some NFTs for having the tokens staked into the Coingecko pool.
I thought that the innovative model positions Access Protocol created was a promising solution in the Web3 content space, and stacked both the 14,821 unlocked tokens, and the 8,502 that were already locked for one year. The story started with 23,323 $ACS tokens ... and it took me two years to get rid of my bags.
A lot happened since then, along with constantly claiming the $ACS rewards and compounding the earnings. I added those rewards in the pot, and then in February 2024 I was able to access all the $ACS tokens. I had the whole pot unlocked and was able to sell... but I didn't!
The two reasons why I kept the tokens in HODL mode were simple... the $ACS prize went down 70% and I was still considering the Access vision as a ground-breaking innovation. The initial unlocked drop was valued over $200 and the value at the start of last year was a quarter of what I could have received if I sold on the day.
So I gave it another year.... and left the tokens staked in two pools, Coingecko and Burgeois, gathering $ACS and even more free NFTs. The bull market started after Donald Trump was elected, and Solana bloomed once again. I remembered about Access and claimed 10,514 $ACS upon checking the dApp, and added them in the mix!
I was waiting for a better day, and even if it's hard to predict... I think I nailed it! The market had green candles for over a week, and I realized it's "now or never". I had 4,806 tokens to $ACS, and over 91k tokens to sell!
The burgeois vault didn't performed well, considering the artist constantly shared NFTs to those that staked in the pool, while on Coingecko I was supporting a tool that I am constantly using but that didn't influenced my wallet in any way. Pondering the above options, I had no regret cashing out!
The price was slowly growing and I patiently waited for an ATH or at least a decent exit price. The current value was still lower than the value of the initial 23,000 ACS drop in 2023, so diamond hands didn't helped with this bag. Even if I had constant transactions on Solana, Access Protocol users weren't included in any of the memecoin airdrops!
The ... End... Of... The ... Road! Just imagine a "No Access Trough, because I did! The sell timing was perfect, pressing the button few days before the crypto market had a massive crash! I cashed out on Access and got 267 USDC in exchange!
It took "only" two years to obtain a value similar to the value I could have gotten if I sold the unlocked $ACS back in February 2023, and will consider this experience part of the learning curve! New year and new strategies!
