NFT Breaking News #53 - Normies Made Pixel Art Programmable

At first glance Normies looks like another collection of pixel-art NFTs. It started with 10,000 little 40×40 monochrome faces sitting on Ethereum.

But there’s more going on underneath the pixel art and the "non-fungible" part ... as the artwork was designed to be more than a static PFP.

Holders can burn Normies, earn Action Points and use them to evolve the NFT they keep. In other words, you’re not just buying a JPEG and waiting for the next narrative to arrive.

You can actually interact with the artwork and that created something pretty unusual. People started destroying NFTs to create new art.

The initial supply began shrinking while collectors experimented with the Canvas system, creating increasingly unique pieces.

Suddenly those basic-looking black-and-white pixels became a creative medium rather than simply another PFP collection. I was there early!

I bought my stash of Normies nice and early and never thought that they will skyrocket in value. Nice art... then Adam Weitsman entered the picture.

Adam, a major NFT collector and patron, acquired 300 Normies through an OTC deal with creator Serc, becoming one of the collection’s biggest holders.

But he didn’t just sit on them. He started using them. One of the most notable examples was Skelemoon... the 1/1 created by burning 50 Normies.

That eventually developed into the Weitsman Art Lab, with collaborations involving artists including Beeple, A.C.K. and Jack Butcher.

Adam’s Normie #0 became a canvas for Beeple’s Everydays, with the artwork being transformed into the tiny 40×40 pixel format.

The Normies team built technology to convert the images into the collection’s distinctive pixel aesthetic, with the work generated on-chain.

As the price surged I slowly sold some NFTs, at first wanting the return of the investment. Then slowly turned into a big chunk of profit!

Think about that for a second. A tiny monochrome NFT that initially looks like a simple pixel face became a programmable canvas for one of the biggest names in digital art.

Pixel art has been around forever but Normies made the pixels programmable. Liked the art, liked the vision... and got 6 Normies left to admire!

You can burn them, evolve them, create with them and leave the history of that process on-chain. The NFT becomes less of a finished product and more of a starting point.

Serc built the original vision, while Adam’s involvement helped bring serious collectors, artists and attention into the ecosystem.

The hype is about what you can turn that pixelated face into, and that made the value of each piece grow. I started with 13 Normies and got a paycheck!

The return of investments is always the target, and if I make it even and I am left with few NFTs then was a good deal!

Sold at ... ... ... .. and took a break! Price kept going up so put few more on the market but higher than the floor! Was waiting for the pump!

Now I can wait for the best deals to come! Sold another one for $800 and the profit I made so far reached xxx and still holding 5 NFTs!
