Canopy Network is a blockchain framework designed for launching application-specific Layer 1 blockchains, those appchains used by games or protocols to work better.
Rather than deploying smart contracts on a shared network, developers can create their own sovereign blockchain while inheriting security from the broader Canopy ecosystem.
How does Canopy work? Canopy is built around four key principles that make launching and scaling appchains more efficient. The ecosystem is built around two core components:
- Canopy Stack - the modular toolkit that enables developers to build and customize their own blockchains.
- Canopy Chain – the root chain that secures newly launched chains through a restaking model.
It brings shared security through restaking as the validators stake the native token on the Canopy Chain and can extend that security to newly launched Nested Chains.
Progressive sovereignty is achieved since day one! All the new chains begin by leveraging Canopy's shared security but they're not locked into this structure forever.
As individual appchains become successful, they can evolve into security providers for future chains, creating a self-expanding network where each generation helps secure the next.
The recursive architecture and Canopy's vision goes beyond a single chain supporting many applications. The goal is to make cross-chain interactions more seamless.
Native interoperability is key, as Canopy is enabling its chains to communicate and transfer assets across networks without relying on traditional bridge-based architectures.
The set-up allows new blockchains to launch with an established validator set instead of having to bootstrap their own network from day one. It's ongoing process!
