Let’s make you travel to my hometown, the beautiful city of Colmar, France!
It is a small city situated to the east of France right next to Germany and Switzerland. It is the hometown of Auguste Bartholdi, the sculptor of the Statue of Liberty.
Colmar is a mix of tradition between French and German architecture. It is also the direct inspiration for the movie “The Beauty and the Beast”
Colmar is particularly beautiful, with flowers in the city all year round and it has a microclimate, making it one of the driest city in France!
It is also rich in history, as Colmar and the Alsace region was German during WW1, then French, German again during WW2 and it is now again French. Due to this, a lot of people still talk German (and French) but also Alsatian, a local language that is in between French and German.
If you decide one day to visit France, I would highly recommend Colmar and the Alsace region in general. Lot of good wine, good cheese, lot of historical monuments, castles... An unknown gem!
