As I promised, this month I will do another writing challenge, this time the focus will be on storytelling, and I will try to immortalize a fragment of life, a short story about something that made me wonder, being that an idea or a peek into a stranger's life. Enjoy!
What dreams may come? (21.11.2022)
-Aaaargh! Once again William woke up from his nightmare. Every year, on the 21st of November, he would have the same nightmare, and an already familiar face of a man he never met before appeared and it will tell him that his time here on Earth is finished. And then the floor will crack and he will end up in a neverending fall.
But today was a good day. Today he has an interview with a big insurance company, for a well-paid job. He will not mess this up. With all the stuff happening lately, Brexit, the Ukraine war, inflation, and all the rest of the list, he really needs this job.
Had a quick breakfast, and went happily toward the hotel where he had an appointment for the job interview. At first, he was surprised, as this was one of those 5-star establishments where you need to pay a fortune to sleep overnight. So far, so good. As he was headed for the roof restaurant, where he would meet the headhunter, he joined the small crowd waiting for the elevator.
-Who is going up? he heard as the door of the lift opened, and as he looked up from his phone, he realized that the lift attendant was the man haunting his dreams. Shocked, he run away and took a taxi straight home.
The next day, this title was all over the news: "Elevator broke falling all the way down, killing 8 people"
For every problem coming into your life, you are always warned, but sometimes you need to stop and pay attention to the signs sent to you.
