December Sunday afternoon, bleak and gloomy, cold and humid - perfect day for staying at home? Not for me. I wento to Kraków and had a very pleasant stroll in the Old Town. This post will be more pictures than words, so sit down and enjoy magic Kraków on a gloomy December day.

Dear English readers - there's a story behind each photo. Kraków is Poland's former capital and the Wawel Castle was the seat of kings for 300 years. Kraków's iconic Main Market Square is the biggest medieval market square in Europe. However, I will leave this post without any descriptions, except one. Stefan Banach and Otto Nikodym, Polish mathematicians

Now, this one does require a few words. Stefan Banach and Otto Nikodym were Polish mathematicians who lived in the first half of the XX century. Both however didn't have any formal mathematical training and it was only by pure chance that a renowned mathematician, dr Hugo Steinhaus overheard two young men discussing Lebesque integration and got them under his curation. Stefan Banach was later considered one of the world's most influential mathematicians. He was the founder of modern functional analysis.
