I've wanted to get better at freestyling for a while now. The problem was never vocabulary — it was timing. I could think of rhymes fine sitting at my desk, but put a beat on and my brain would freeze half a bar behind. Every practice tool I found was either a static word list or a full DAW. Nothing actually made me say the rhyme on the beat.
So I built the thing I wanted: rhymegame.org
It's a free browser game. A ball bounces along a lyric track in time with the beat, rhyme pairs drop in bar by bar (color-matched by rhyme family), and you say the rhyming word out loud right as the ball lands. No sign-up, no download, works on your phone.
It works with any YouTube instrumental — paste in a beat and the game listens to it, finds the groove on its own, and starts the ball right on the drop. I also spent a few weekends putting together a practice library of 100+ freestyle beats, and that crate alone has been worth the effort.
The rhymes come from a big pronunciation dictionary, not an AI. It keeps the matching fast and offline-friendly, and nobody has to trust a model I tuned.
There's a daily challenge with no accounts. Every day there's one Daily Mix — same beat, same words for everyone, wherever you are. You can also send a friend a challenge link and dare them to beat your run: nothing to install, nothing to sign up for.
Mic scoring is optional and stays on your device. If you want a score, mic mode grades your timing locally in the browser — your audio never leaves your machine.
If you freestyle — or you've just watched those "say the word on beat" videos and wondered how you'd do — give it a shot and tell me what BPM you fall apart at. For me it's somewhere around 140.
